Į Vilijandi - mažą miestuką Estijos pietuose - mane atvijo tikrai ne noras eiti anksčiau žiemos ieškoti (nors, ironija - šalnos jau kandžiojo Lietuvą, o Estijoje teapturėjau tik vieną rytą su pabalusia žole). Čia vyko jau šeštoji tarptautinė jaunųjų folkloristų konferencija. Nors penkios dienos svečioje šalyje jau gali imti kvepėti akademiniu turizmu, tačiau konferencija buvo itin įdomi, įtempta (ką reiškia 3 dienos pranešimų, po dvi paralelines sesijas!), tad laiko kažkur šmirinėti nelabai ir beliko. Tik paskutinį vakarą su savo kelionės drauge Lina išėjome, kaip ji pasakytų, į platųjį horizontą.
O pamatyti Viljandi tikrai yra ką! Pavyzdžiui, buvusios didžiausios Livonijos pilies griuvėsius. Arba kabantį tiltą. Taip pat gausu mažų skulptūrų (pvz. toji su žmogumi ir šunimi skirta buvusiam Viljandi merui). O kai nosis atšąla ir norisi kažko šilto - gera užsukti į kokią nors kavinukę (pvz. man labai patikusią Fellin) ir išgerti diiidelį puodelį kakavos arba karšto šokolado (estai tikrai moka ruošti puikią kakavą - jau tuo įsitikinau!). Tad Viljandi džiaugsmas ir akiai, ir skrandžiui!

I came to Viljandi (a town in Estonia) not because I wanted to greet winter a little bit earlier than other Lithuanians. I was participating in the 6th International Conference of Young Folklorists . Although five days in foreign country might seem like an academical tourism, actually, it was so intense and interesting (3 days of presentations, two parallel sessions each day!) that there was no time left for anything else, except sleeping and eating your dinner/breakfast. Only the last evening, after the conference was closed, me and my colleague Lina, we went out, as she would say, to see the vast horizons!
There are lot of things to see in Viljandi! For example, the ruins of once the biggest castle in Livonija. Or the famous suspense bridge. Also there are lots of sculptures (the one with man and dog is dedicated to former mair of Viljandi). And when your nose starts running and you want something warm after long walking, you might enjoy a cup of cacao or hot chocolade in one of the cafeterias (I liked Fellin the most). Viljandi is a joy both to your eyes and tummy! :)
